Andrea Rossi and his consultant Sergio Focardi have endured a lot of negative remarks and pessimism from the science world to finally present to the world a reactor E-Cat (Energy Catalyzer), which could be the big break we need in energy production. In his invention, Rossi uses Nickel and light hydrogen to produce energy, using 1 liter reactors. We can expect to get all the details of the invention once the patent has been released, which is expected to be in a few months’ time.

For now, focus is on the 1 megawatt plant being developed in Greece, where Hyperion, the Low Energy Nuclear Reaction product will be put to use for the first time. The plant will run on 125 modules, which are currently under production in several parts of Europe and the US and will consist of 300 4kW reactors. Energy produced by the reactors will initially be used for heating purposes only. The plant belongs to a Greek company, Defkalion Green Technologies.

LENR is unique in that it uses a small amount of energy to give eight times more energy in output - for each unit of energy used the Energy Catalyzer reactor produces 8 units of output. Also interesting is that no energy is lost in the reactor. In the process, resistance produces thermal energy which goes back to the heating fluid, thus conserving all energy. The initial plan is to produce only low output levels as producing high output levels can result in explosions. To attain high power limits, the reactor modules are combined in series and parallel.

Rossi’s invention has given the most encouraging results of all cold fusion news and inventions made in the past. It has been tested for a longer period of time and even used experimentally to heat a building for a year. The most recent experiment done in Bologna lasted 10 hours, during which no electricity was used to power the process. Only energy needed to power the device and instruments was used. Repeat tests since the first demonstration was done have yielded consistent results, making the process highly replicable.

Energy Catalyzer has elicited a lot of interest in different parts of the world, with many inquiries already having been received. Rossi has signed an agreement with US company AmpEnergo, to receive royalties for the sale of products made using Energy Catalyzer in North and South America and all corresponding licenses.
